Awards 2024/25

Merit Award

Paul Le Sauvage

Paul’s on table achievements included winning the two billiards knockout competitions and lifting the island snooker title some 24 years after the last time, which has gone down in the history books. And then, in Jersey with the palpable tension and pressure, he calmly secured the inter insular with the most assured performance. Paul also won the billiards handicap knockout, billiards highest break and the Bachmann Trophy.

In amongst that, he has also been a tireless worker behind the scenes for the association, and managed to win his last five league matches 3-0 for the first time despite all that was going on.

Other players warranting a mention for the award are:

John Skillett – winner of the GRG Masters and Paul Rouguet Snooker Open, John also topped the Premier aggregates by winning 46 of his 60 frames. He was also a member of the victorious snooker inter insular team.

Adam Shorto – the only player to make a century break with a 106 clearance against AJ Makepeace.

Jamie Le Cheminant - a player who has shown much improvement this season, and who, perhaps crucially, beat Aaron Canavan in the inter insulars to provide a significant early boost to the team.

Most Oustanding Achievement by a Non-Premier Player or Team

David Mac Nab

David really stood out from the rest in the lower divisions. In this his first season, he has already shown that you leave him a chance at your peril, and his best break of 32 will surely be followed by higher in the future. In the league, he won the aggregates with a huge 12% better win rate than the next player. He contested four finals across individual, pairs and team competitions, winning the Norman Wale, snooker pairs and team handicap knockouts.

Other warranting a mention for the award are:

Martin Budge, Ryan Le Page, Gordon Irish and Jason Gilroy had an unbeaten league season.

C8 Casuals - a remarkable debut season in which they won the third division and team handicap titles.

Miles Plumley – took his first Billiards Straight league title and shone brightest in the team billiards inter insular with three wins.

Most Improved Player

Dave Jeffrey

Dave has just completed his second season and, despite his newness to the game, proved to be his team's most valuable player by winning the most frames. He also showed a remarkable assurance when guesting for a Premier team by not being overawed and displaying the qualities you'd expect to see in more experienced players. There is little doubt that he is a naturally gifted sportsman who has been able to take very quickly to a snooker table.

Other players warranting a mention for the award are:

From the third division, Liam Lanyon and Jake Duquemin had their best season in terms of frame wins and improved their win percentage from the previous season.

From the second division, Cameron Chalker and Tyler Cohu acquitted themselves well playing in a higher division, despite it being a tough season for the Chicken Dippers.

From the first division: Sam Bulmer took his win percentage from 42% the season before to 64% and underlined what a difficult opponent he is.
