Peter Colley

The Guernsey Billiards & Snooker Association is extremely sad to have heard the news that Peter Colley passed away on 10th October at the age of 91.

Peter served as President of our Association for ten years from 2006 and was very highly respected by all our members. A very accomplished player at both billiards and snooker, arguably one of his best moments was compiling a break of 91 at his beloved Sporting Club – a significant achievement in the 70’s, well before the first recorded century break in 1995.

Peter was part of a very strong Sporting Club side that challenged for league titles, which included the likes of Dave Lewis, Geoff Jenkinson and Henning Jorgensen. He won twelve island titles in all, including most notably the Island Billiards Championship in 2000.

Many will remember Peter for being the perfect gentleman that he was and, whilst serving as President on presentation evenings, everyone would fall silent after a lively night to hear his closing words, which typically included a witty tale.

In later years, we have missed Peter’s presence around the snooker tables, and we will continue to do so.

We extend our sincere condolences to Peter’s family and friends.

Funeral Service to take place at St. Peter’s Parish Church on 27th October at 2:00pm – smart attire in subdued colours.
