Awards 2025/26

Merit Award

Adam Shorto

Adam has had a truly sensational season, setting a modern day (if not all time) record of having won every match that he played in.

He is the winner of four domestic titles, being the Island Snooker Championship, the Shootout, the Open and lifting the Norman Wale handicap for a record fourth time. He also won the Bachmann Trophy, secured the highest break of the season with a brilliant 107 in the Shootout, and fulfilled his dream of making a century break in the inter insular, having led Guernsey to a 16-9 win over Jersey.

After twice missing out previously in final frame deciders against Aaron Canavan, Adam finally came through 5-4 against the Jersey champion with a superb final black to win the Channel Islands Snooker Championship for a third time.

Other players warranting a mention for the award are:

Glenn Le Prevost – for his maiden Masters title and taking the aggregate award for the first time since 2019.

John Skillett – for reaching his first island final, whilst also runner up in the Open.

Most Oustanding Achievement by a Non-Premier Player or Team

Gremlin Grinders

Gremlin Grinders came out on top of the fiercest scrap where four teams were vying for promotion from the second division. In doing so, they put a run together of eight consecutive wins…more than any other team achieved in the league. Two of their players had their best seasons and, on top of all that, they also completed the double by winning the team handicap knockout.

Others warranting a mention for the award are:

Matt Rowe – reaching the Norman Wale final in his first season.

Carlo Cavagnetto – came in as a reserve for North Social Bandits and proved more than useful in winning 65% of matches.

David Mac Nab - remained unbeaten throughout the season, in a higher division, to extend his run to 33 matches, whilst recording his highest break along the way.

Martin Budge – achieving the billiards league double - just the fourth player to do so.

Gremlin Knights – from a woeful start of eight matches without a win in the third division to putting a remarkable run together of just one defeat in their last 11 matches to seal promotion.

Most Improved Player

Kane De Carteret

Kane is a player who we have seen improve significantly this season. From someone who in his early days would win just a handful of frames and who averaged 11 frame wins over the past four seasons, it was very different this time around. Kane finished with 25 frames and enjoyed a run of 18 matches unbeaten in the third division and proved to be a mainstay of the promoted Forest Stores Guzzlers side.

Other players warranting a mention for the award are:

Cameron Chalker – who not only won more frames than before but also won the Lower Divisions Handicap tournament.

Tyler Cohu – almost doubled the number of frames he usually wins in a season and finished on a run of 12 unbeaten matches.

Harry Henderson – won his greatest number of frames but also had the two highest breaks in division three, and made it to the semi-final of the Norman Wale.

Liam Lanyon - like Harry, he too won more frames and achieved his personal best break.

Dave Jeffrey – last year’s winner of this award, Dave continues to improve each season.

Miles Davies - not only did he win his greatest number of frames in a season but also made the quarter-final of the Norman Wale and final of the pairs.

Josh Toussaint - won his most frames; recorded his highest break; and pushed Adam Shorto to a deciding frame in the Open.

Lee Robert: - recorded his highest competitive break; made the semi-finals of the of the Norman Wale; and was the winner of the Scotch Doubles.
